Bin Collections in Mansfield
Check your next bin collection
Use Mansfield District Council’s collection calendar to find the next dates for your property. Dates vary by address; the council’s checker is the source for your actual collection day.
- Open the official calendar, enter your postcode and choose Lookup.
- Follow the address-selection steps, then check each collection shown for your property. Glass collections can fall on a different day from general waste and recycling.
- If your address is missing or no dates appear, contact the council on 01623 463463 or mdc@mansfield.gov.uk. Do not assume an old calendar or a nearby street has your current dates.

Which bin should I put out?
Match the collection type and date in your property’s calendar. General waste and mixed recycling are each collected every two weeks; glass has a separate eight-week schedule and may use a different collection day.
Put the correct, labelled bin where crews can reach it by 6am, with its lid closed. Keep recycling loose rather than in plastic bags. Garden waste needs a paid subscription; use the current council instructions for that service.
If you cannot move your bins because of age, disability or a medical condition, the council offers an assisted-collection service for eligible residents. Check the application guidance below.
- Green bin — general waste
- Household rubbish that cannot be recycled, including securely bagged food waste. Keep batteries, vapes, electrical items and building waste out; do not leave extra rubbish beside it.
- Blue bin — mixed recycling
- Clean paper and card, accepted plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, cans, foil and cartons. Put recycling in loose. Glass, food waste and plastic bags do not belong here.
- Teal-lidded bin — glass
- Empty, clean glass bottles and jars. Remove lids where possible. Drinking glasses, mirrors and oven-proof glass are not accepted in this collection.
- Brown bin — garden waste
- Subscribed collections of grass, leaves, hedge cuttings and small branches. Keep food waste, soil, turf, rubble and plastic bags out.

Missed bin?
Wait until after 2pm before treating a green or blue bin as missed, because crews may still be collecting. Check current disruption notices first. The council’s missed-bin page asks you to contact it within 48 hours; report promptly and check the live form’s instructions. The online form requires a council account; you can also contact 01623 463463 or mdc@mansfield.gov.uk. Late, overloaded, inaccessible or contaminated bins may not qualify for a free return. After reporting a genuine missed collection, leave your bin available at the kerbside.

Bank holidays and changed collections
Collection dates can change, particularly around bank holidays. Recheck your property’s live calendar and council service notices instead of assuming that the collection moves forward one day. When collection changes affect Mansfield, we cover them in our local news.
