A free jobs fair is being held in Mansfield to connect jobseekers directly with employers who are actively recruiting. The Mansfield Jobs and Careers Fair takes place on Wednesday 23 September at Mansfield Library, Westgate.

The event is organised by Mansfield District Council, West Nottinghamshire College and the Department for Work and Pensions. It aims to help anyone searching for a job — whether currently unemployed or considering a career change — to meet recruiters, hand over their CV, and explore opportunities.

Who should attend

The fair is open to jobseekers at any stage of their career journey. Attendees are advised to bring their CV, an open mind and a positive attitude.

Executive Mayor of Mansfield, Andy Abrahams, said: "This event is an innovative way for jobseekers to go directly to employers who are actively recruiting right now and make a great first impression. Whether you're currently unemployed or whether you're looking to take your career in a new direction, this is an ideal place to start your research, have some helpful conversations and get some advice."

Support on offer

Staff from West Nottinghamshire College will be present to advise on courses including apprenticeships, adult programmes and community-based courses. The college's HR team will also showcase current vacancies at the college.

Emma Etches, learner and engagement manager at West Nottinghamshire College, said: "Looking for a new job or thinking about changing career can sometimes feel daunting, particularly if you've been out of the workplace for a while or simply don't know what your next step should be. Events like this take away some of those barriers by putting people and opportunities together in the same room. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to do. Come along, have conversations, ask questions and find out what the college could do to help you turn a new page."

For businesses

Businesses from the Mansfield area are also being encouraged to attend to make new connections and recruit new employees.
