Mansfield Town has received planning approval to expand its football academy at the Radford & Hymas training site in Woburn Lane, Pleasley.

Mansfield District Council's planning applications committee approved the application from Mansfield Town Developments on behalf of the League One club.

What will be built

The expansion scheme comprises an indoor pitch, an outdoor pitch with lighting, a gym building, and two new car parks.

Background

Mansfield Town opened the Radford & Hymas training facility in 2016. In 2023, the club purchased additional land nearby from Nottinghamshire County Council to allow for expansion.

Planning documents submitted to the council stated the new facilities would allow the League One club to grow, support its teams at all levels, and promote healthier lifestyles in the area. The documents also noted the expansion would make optimal use of an existing facility that is operating below its potential.

A report prepared for the council meeting described the scheme as delivering "material benefits" through investment in sports infrastructure.
